Agreed, as long as your purpose is to save bandwidth. China and North
Korea's entire international egresses are one giant system of proxies,
for other reasons.

But to be very clear, that's not what a Google cache is.

Actually, this long-standing metaphor needs to be updated, because
"shouting in a public place" doesn't instinctively do justice to the
permanent and global nature of Internet activity.

Using the Internet is like shouting in front of a CNN reporter, your
Mom, and a police officer -- each of which is running a video camera,
and each video will be indexed and stored to correlate with all other
video of you ever taken. Even when you weren't shouting. And even
when you weren't in a public place.
