Despite his goodbye, Arthur may very well be preparing a rebuttal
and I am preparing to watch the fur fly! In the meantime, I
haven't been following the technical aspects of this thread,
because I have been out in the Real World - like this great
property that my wife and I have and doing Real Work.
I will say that it seems that there is nothing more nervous than a
techie confronted by technology that he/she doesn't trust.
Extrapolating from my family situation forward I have this vision
of Arthur sitting in a rocking chair drooling (literally) while he
custom compiles Linux Kernel Version 999.99 while his siblings
confer amongst themselves (perhaps via Mind Meld) about what to do
about Dear Old Dad. And I watch bemused having been linked and
compiled to the Great Assembler In The Sky....
And seriously, just a little while ago, I came across an old
friend (real friend) on facebook and renewed our acquaintance.
When you realize that half your time on earth has been used up one
should realize that time and friends (real friends) and family are
precious. If it is facebook or farcebook or whatever the latest
and greatest will be in a few years - that facilitates that -
that's a good thing.
And how many of you caught the '999' ?
