I have 768 megs in a dual p3 and it USES it all + swaps=20

it depends on what you are doing . The above is KDE3, Konquere 4
consoles, evolution, and Xchat. plus system services--- Postfix, NFS,
X11 etc

RAM RAM RAM The more the better. Yet I get decent performace on a 300
mhz laptop with 96 megs of ram (first linux box I ran was a 486 with 4
megs of ram..... Imagine the swap that beast did)

Linux is the most efficent use of ram I have ever found on a x86 pc
