The right medicine is always a hard swallow. Or now is the time
for all good AKLUGer's to stand up and vote.

In organizations like AKLUG that started out as meeting of
like minded individuals desiring to discuss issues and propagate
technology, it is the due course to meet at the Y in the road.
AKLUG needs to be formalized.

1.) * Consider securing formal legal standing for the group, such as
incorporation or tax-exempt status * Find out if your meeting place
is restricting growth of the LUG.

Please read http://www.austinlug.org/bylaws.html as a good example.

2.) "* Elect formal leadership for the LUG as soon as is practical: some
helpful officers might include President, Treasurer, Secretary,
Meeting Host (general announcements, speaker introductions, opening
and closing remarks, etc.), Publicity Coordinator
(handles Usenet and e-mail postings, local publicity), and
Program Coordinator (organizes and schedules speakers at LUG meetings)."

(taken from the LDP
http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/User-Group-HOWTO-6.html#ss6.3)

I would like this to be taken up officially but does AKLUG have any official
representation ? Where is it documented how to become an "offical", etc., etc. ?

May clear vision and common sense prevail.

Regards,
Dee
