Umm, so what's negative about hacking? One of the professional
organizations I belong to the Association of Moving Image Archivists
<amianet.org> now incorporates a "hackathon" into their Annual
Conference (via the Open Source Committee) and the results have been
pretty amazing. Instead of shying away from the term I would suggest
that a better strategy would be to embrace it, sort of what African
Americans did with the term "nigger." Own it and it's yours. If you
back off - the propagandists win - and then they own you.
