I've been following the conversation, but I don't understand how
this would work. What device is that ethernet port on, and how
can you use it to connect to both your LAN and the ISP?
I don't know if this is related, but I discovered a while back
that even when my PPPoE connection was down, other people's
traffic was coming across my DSL. The ISP told me that some
customers have their equipment misconfigured; IIRC, it had to
do with L2 issues.
