I take it the "CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF" is a kernel configuration
option when one is compiling a kernel. I would rather not compile a
kernel - the updates are coming too fast.

I have put both apm=on and ACPI=off in the grub menu.lst as a kernel
parameter for all kernels.
