That is correct greg. You only need a 64 bit OS if you need (or would like)
64 bit capabilities. Otherwise you can use a 32 bit OS. All 64 bit
processors from amd are 32 bit backwards compatible.

If you would like a 64 bit OS though may I suggest fedora core 2? It has
done me well so far dual booting my 64 3200 with windows XP.
