RE: 64-bit linux?

We were running 32-bit Oracle on SLES 8 AMD-64 before 64-bit Oracle was
certified. Some of the programs had to be prefixed with linux32 to use
the 32-bit libraries.

Such as 'linux32 sqlplus /nolog'.

Yeah, but if the OS was compiled for 64-bit, and debian and mandrake
are, then that shoudl work fine. But what about programs inside of the
OS, would an application compiled for a 32-bit system work on an opteron

64-bit system or a 64-bit compiled Os for that matter?
