Stephen,
What you could do is run Win4lin on those two machines. I think that
OpenOffice could really work very similar to Word Perfect, but if they
don't want to lose those apps, then you are stuck in a Microsoft world.
So you could have the best of both by running mostly Linux apps and use
Win4lin to run the two MUST HAVE apps.
We do that at our house....my wife MUST HAVE Quicken.
