Did anyone hand out Knoppix CD's last year?
http://www.knoppix.net/
I give these to ALL my clients/friends/family as it simply
runs off the CD and does not touch the hard drive.
Simply amazing stuff. It's a great way to get people to use
Linux without doing a major install. Just boot from CDROM
and in a few moments you have Linux running.
They have a smaller version (that I prefer) that gets you booted into the
latest KDE desktop. I can't find the URL at the moment
for download but it is out there somewhere.
I just used this distro to recover a failed XP machine.
XP would not boot no matter what I did. (even using fdisk /mbr)
So I used Knoppix on this failed machine and then used samba
to mount another Windows machine on the network and copied all the
important data to that other machine. Re-installed XP and copied the data
back. Knoppix is awesome.

(sorry again if everyone already knows about Knoppix)
