Well!
Why didn't you just say you wanted to be a hardware mortician?

Greetings all;

Here follows a brief explanation of the term, "Junque", as well as
my intention in its use in suggesting a position of responsibility
in the proposed corporate structure of the "Alaska Linux Users
Group", whick is commonly refered to as "aklug".

1. I have long been interested in Amateur Radio. I dimly remember
failes attempts as a Cub Scout in the 1940's, then as a Boy Scout in
the early 1950's, to learn the International Morse Code. In high
school, one of my class mates got his Novice license. One of the
adult hams in the community helped him build a one tube transmitter
obtaining most of the parts from his "junk" box.

2. In 1964 I got my Novice license, WL7ALV. I joined the "American
Radio Relay League" and began receiving its monthly publication,
"QST". It was from reading home-brew construction articles that I
saw that references to one's "junk" box were often spelled "Junque".

3. The point of the change in spelling suggests the concept that one
person's (including corporate persons) junk was still useful to some
other person. This concept is supported by the use of this spelling
by some second-hand and "Antique" stores (none in Anchorage).

4. At first glance, use of the term and spelling, "Junque", may seem
facious. The actions of the "Junque Master", or perhaps, "Junque
Meister", to receive, record, and dispose of donations-in-kind,
according to the various laws, regulations, corporate constitution
and bylaws gives this position a great deal of importance. Thus,
"Junque" will take on the fullness of the concept as described in
item 3.

5. I have observed Stanley performing all the duties of a "Junque
Meister". He has been the man who has received, kept records in
accordance with the wishes of the donors, and disposed of cast off
computers, peripherals, cables, etc.

6. To conclude this brief explanation, I am convinced, the position
of "Junque Master" (Meister) is needed. The person holding this
position needs to be on the Board of Directors of the corporate
entity to ensure these important responsibilities are properly
executed. The exact title (and spelling) is open as far as I am
concerned.
