Yes it does, so I have a feeling it is being used in the startup scripts
somewhere, even though I haven't been able to figure out where. The
problem could be that while the setserial that comes with the 2.4.x
kernel stuff looks for /etc/serial.conf by default, it can be told to
use a file by some other name somewhere else in it's invocation.

It also doesn't have locate, probably for security reasons.
