Greetings Matthew, here is my nickle's worth.

Distribution CD's: name your poison. Someone on this list is sure to
have it. Just ask. On the other hand, if you are not sure what you
want, do come the the Friday night lab sessions. You can just hang
out with the object of finding out who uses which distro and why.
Then you can bring you box in if you need help installing the distro
you have selected.

I am the new custodian of the AKLUG burner box. I will be bringing
it to the Friday night sessions, but it is better to put your order
in ahead of time. IDEA has a big pipe, the main reason to bring in
the burner box is to up date iso's or download additional distros.
Greg is the expert having just passed the box on to me. It would be
a good idea to bring blank cd's if you have them. The latest is
DVD's. This box only does CD's. You didn't say what kind of
equipment was running WXP. Perhaps you already have a DVD reader or
one of the combo drives. If so, you are really in business.

You may want to consider one of the live distro's so you don't have
to do anything to your existing setup.

As far as taking the bus, you might want to ask for a ride. I have a
meeting this Friday at the DeBarr "Denny's" which will last until 8
or 8:30pm. So, if you are over that way or on the way to C Street
and Potter, and you can wait, let me know. There may be others who
could give you a ride. Just ask. fgd.
