Actually in X terminology what you want is a server. If you run xterm
on your linux box and it is displayed on your Windows box, then the
xterm is the client and the X display system is the server. It sounds
backwards. Think of it as a server in the generic sence. X makes
diverse hardware look the same to programs written with an X based
toolkit by providing services to those applications.
