Hi all, good news for individuals interested in getting some hands on
Samba training. There will be a Friday night Linux gathering over at the
IDEA offices tonight, a BIG Thanks to Brian! Instructions on how to get
there below.
We will be setting up 1 production server for a local non-profit, and we
will also have 2 or 3 other fresh servers for new members to play around
with.
Here is the plan. We will walk individuals through a Red Hat 7.3
install, get the needed applications installed, get the networking
components running, and configure the applications (Samba, Webmin, Bind)
to run on the production server. The other test servers are there for
members to try and duplicate what we will be doing on the main server.
We want people to be able to get their hands dirty working on test
servers. This means you are free to break them ;)
All members new and old are welcome to swing on by and learn something
new, or lend some technical expertise.
For those that expressed an interest earlier in helping out with the non-
profit project. This is it. I talked with the director and he was
anxious to get the server in place as soon as possible (good idea!). So
the October 26th date has been moved forward to this evening. If you
can't make it don't worry, there will be other opportunities.
We're hoping that these kinds of trainings will become a regular
occurance designed to allow members to configure servers and applications
that they might not otherwise be able to work with.

On the south end of Potter Dr., just East of C street.
Formal Front Entrance is B street West door
Machine Entrance will be in the back East side
If coming from Diamond turn on to C st. then make a right on to Potter
Dr. If you hit international you have gone too far.
Once on Potter Dr. You make a right on to B. st.
You will see the IDEA Field office sign on your left.
