Jon,

I am assuming samba.... If you have a file that needs to be shared you need to
put all of the users in one unix group and then tell samba to force a group on
the dir with this samba syntax:

   create mask = 0660
   directory mask = 0770
   force group = unixGroup

That will force every file to be group writable with the right group set.
