afaik, lilo v21.5 'broke' the 1024 cyl barrier. Also I think
lilo/geometry issues at least give you a 'L' or 'LI' etc. Of course this
doesn't help solve the problem unless the bios version shipped with RH
7.0 is < v 21.5.

I found some interesting reading by entering 'beep codes during boot' in
Google, I think they are bios specific though.
