Same story in the Valley , We tried on two occasions to introduce Linux to
the school system . The IT department's of the School System won't sway in
there use of Windows and Mac's . At one time I reserched the amount of mony
they were spending on Microsoft Licening and it ran well over $100,000 a
year. We assisted one science teacher in installing 7 Linux box's in his lab
, at the end of the year they formated them all and replaced Linux with
Windows. I personaly install a Linux Box at the "See you online" distance
learning shool and so far as I know it lasted a few weeks befor they droped
it.

You got to rember the people who make the buying desicisons have lots
invested in the status quoe even though its failing them. Then there is the
political element.

They Swalk about there problems , but they only want the parents and the
rest of the community to pony up more money. The teachers don't realy want
to take the time to learn how to use a computer to teach . They use them as
a excuse or a distraction for the kids.

So I hope you have better luck , but I'll bet if you were to offer them
unlimited training free of charge and 8000 new Dell With Linux installed
from the factory . They would refuse and ask for the money instead.
