[aklug] Fwd: Re: ACS spam filters

Hello, intrepid UA WHOIS folk -

Please update reverse DNS for 137.229.184.11 so that the PTR record
exists and matches the corresponding A record.

A well-named mail server will pass SpamAssassin's mail checks.
Otherwise, emails from asimov to ACS and other providers will be
incorrectly marked as spam.

Please forward this to the appropriate party as needed. Thanks!

Royce Williams

I built asimov.uaa.alaska.edu quite a few years ago, and while it is
hosted by the UAA Library, reverse DNS is tightly controlled by the
UAA campus-wide IT group. Unfortunately they have never paid much
attention to DNS in general. Without knowing the proper contact info
for the UAA IT folks anymore, you could always start with the
technical contact in the whois info for alaska.edu:

   ua-oit-its-ne-dept@alaska.edu

They should at least be able to steer you in the right direction to
the proper UAA contact.
