Well it finally happened again after 15 years.
A massive undelete occurred from my personal usb-ext 1.5Tb drive
containing about 15+ years of media archived from different machines over
the years. I estimate at least 500gb is MIA
I was archiving several directories from a desktop machine with PcLinuxOS
and
Dolphin File manager (both of which I rarely use) to the external.
My normal daily usage distros are usually Ubuntu or KX Studio
and derivatives or Puppy.
At some point I deleted a couple of non-essential directories, only to
discover I
had highlighted basically everything and to compound matters instead of
"move to trash" it was "delete".
I am leaving the machine on, distro up and running with all apps closed.
the external FS deleted was either ext4 or XFS.
I have read many, many RTFM and searched endlessly. However I know once one
begins to attempt recovery YOU BETTER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
It happen to me over 15 years ago and with the tools at the time I
accomplished nothing.
Has anyone had a successful recovery of anything similar.?
