Whilst I can understand how we all might not have the greatest degree of
confidence in our elected leaders, I believe it is important that we
communicate our concerns to them. Otherwise, they never feel any
pressure to do our will. Spreading the word is good, but that ultimately
must translate into e-mails, letters, and phone calls to those in
authority. Like them or not, it is those "bureaucrats" who actually have
the power to change things. (At least, until the next election.)

Furthermore, sometimes politicians who have no convictions of their own
will adjust their stance on issues when they hear a loud enough shout
from the people. I have seen this happen several times.
