While reading through this, I thought of one I've seen (but not tried)
which may be of interest. It's based on the concept of security via
isolation, where each application is run in a throw-away VM: Qubes [1].

Again, I haven't tried it yet, but it looks interesting, and is fairly
unlike the others in your sample set.
