Yeah, we did that when we were up in Fairbanks (a couple times), and I
was able to talk him through the process over the phone, but I couldn't
determine (over the phone) what the driver name was, so I couldn't get
it modprobe'd. Did you also add the driver to /etc/modules so it will
load on boot?
