Many spammers are the advertising version of script kiddies. Since the
software is designed to prevent bounces, etc. from ever coming back to
the actual originator, the "ad kiddie" may not get any feedback that
would alert them to the fact that they are sending to bad addresses,
sending duplicates, etc. - or they may not care.

Once they graduate from ad-kiddie level, they realize that a little
tuning of their app can improve their success rate. They also realize
that having a high failure rate with a common factor will make them
easier to track down, and they stop doing that.

In this case, it sounds like the app they're using has some smarts in
the header area, but isn't helping them keep their list groomed. Unless
you've got a domain wildcarded or something?

I think that the phrase "ad kiddie" is one that I've just made up, but I
think that it does capture something.
