Kinda curious if any of you guys had a theory on this...

Is there any profit behind spam e-mail? Or is it meant purely to annoy
people?

Lately I've been the victim of the ruthless "You Can Do It" spammer, who
has sent me several dozen copies of an advertisement for viagra and
other such meds. The spammer is (frightenly) intelligent about it, as in
every message sent he (she?) changes all of the headers to ensures that
I can't filter the message out. The message body itself contains no
text, but only a png, whose name itself changes every time. He has even
slightly altered several pixels on the png for each message. My spam
filters only catch about 2 out of every 10 or so sent.

Anyway, I just was wondering what the point was. Does a spammer really
think that if he sends me 25 copies of the same viagra spam, that I'll
go checkout his website?

End rant.
