I use the binary nvidia drivers without an issue. I don't have to
recompile when the kernel changes (I do that for wifi though) and when
the drivers update they just install.

Things like backgrounds show (or at least *can* show) across both
monitors. Games, DVDs, etc have always shown on one or the other. One
game (lbreakout2) can't show on the external monitor - the mouse won't
work for some reason.

One thing that's odd though - when I disconnect the laptop from the
docking bay (or reconnect to it) I have to log out/log back in in order
to pick up the change in monitors.
