Sounds like the customer service folks gave you the wrong information.

Per the DNS guy:

.12 and .13 are VCNS-1 and VCNS-2 which are our resolvers, not our
authoritative name servers.

Customers should be using VANS-1 and VANS-2 (209.165.131.14 and .15)
with their registrars.=20

(iliamna and spurr are -really- old legacy names, fyi)
