Has anyone compared MySQL performance on the same or similar machine with Windows 2003 Server and Linux? I recently switched from MSSQL to MySQL for a web project to save $$$ and now I'm considering a dedicated Linux box to improve performance. I have a Sunfire x86 Opterion dual processor with 4GB ram. I'm only concerned with the speed of Select queries. My largest table has 1.9 million rows and 150 fields. BTW we've done queries on MSSQL that have reboot the server. What causes that? Thanks.
