gentoo emerge

As much as I have praised emerge in the past, it seems to be giving me
a bit of trouble. whenever I try to emerge ANYTHING, i get this error:

Sheila Julio # emerge ntp
Calculating dependencies
!!! Problem in net-misc/ntp dependencies.
!!! "Specific key requires an operator
(gnustep-apps/preview-0.7.5_pre20041021) (try adding an '=')"

Like I said before, I am unable to emerge anything, I have done emerge
sync, thinking it would help, needless to say, it didn't. Anyone got
any ideas?
