Hmm.. I've been playing around some more, and it seems that the floppy
drives are accessed whenever any usb device (USB 1 or 2, hub or
otherwise) is unplugged. The USB2 hub sometimes gets stuck in a loop
where it keeps getting disconnected and reconnected.

So, the drives accessing is kind of annoying, but not really a problem,
and seems to be associated with devlabel, which gets rerun every time a
usb device is connected or disconnected. The main issue seems to be
that the hub gets stuck in a connect/disconnect loop sometimes, and I'm
not sure why. linux-usb.org suggests using 2.4.22 with USB 2, and RH9
ships with 2.4.20 - maybe a(nother) kernel upgrade is in order..

Unless someone has a different idea (please? I hate having to compile
new kernels :) )
