Scott,

It looks like the main problem is that you apparently installed a pretty
stripped RH 8 and didn't install sh-utils or perl.

The default configuration of 'autorpm' is setup to install upgrades to
what you already have installed on the box. It won't get a list of never
installed packages unless you change its config scripts a bit.

>From what I understand about your setup - not convenient to physically
access the box. The easiest thing would be to use autorpm's 'add'
command do add additional ftp sites. I just used it to add
ftp://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/redhat/linux/8.0/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS

to my RH 7.3 box (oops). I then used it to install what may be the wrong
version of xtraceroute to my box - oh well.

use the command 'add ftp://ftp.myftpsever' from autorpm's command line.

If its practical, you could also install the RPM database to a directory
on your server and point 'add' to it instead.

See /etc/autorpm.d/support/tips for more info.
