For anyone who's bothered to read the traffic concerning this on the security
lists, the bug may have been overstated in its criticality. In fact, one set
of testers found that most of the commercial unices were immune to the flaw.
Ironically, specific versions of RedHat (go figure) and Slackware (ouch!)
were.

I'm sticking with sendmail, myself. It's beyond a doubt the most flexible and
configurable SMTP package out there, and the long history of it has shaken out
most of the bugs already.

Besides, if you have to support commercial unices you'd be a fool not to get
intimate with it -- it's the default far more often than not, and installing a
substitute is not always an option.
