FWIW: There have been several discussions about the merits of various
RAID products on RH's pysche (8.0) list. Promise didn't fare well, even
compared to software RAID, on performance and failure protection.
Controllers by 3Ware (more expensive, naturally) had many fans.
With that said, I hope you post your findings!
