Ryan,

        Update your locate dB 'updatedb' then try to locate ifconfig 'locate
ifconfig'. If you log in as a user then 'su' to root /sbin will still
not be in your path. If you log in as root, then you can run ifconfig by
just typing it on the command line by itself.
