Funny thing is apmd isn't even running. I saw that kapmd is running but
even when I stop that, it still blanks...so it has to be something else.

The interesting thing is that RH 7.3 didn't do it at all.

Well, under KDE it's in the Control Center -> Power Saving (or something
like that - I'm not at home right now so I can't check..)

I haven't played with the power saving stuff much, but if you just want
to turn it off, make sure 'apmd' is _not_ being loaded during bootup.
If you just want to make the timeout longer, the only way I've ever
changed it is through KDE.

Only thing is that IIRC, apmd will blank your screen even when you are
just in the console, so that may not be the solution you are looking for...
