If I'm logged into the local machine as user larry, and need to login to the
remote machine as larry, the -l <user-name> is unnecessary.

If the user logs into windows as the Admin user, then -l will be needed
unless Admin is a user on the remote machine.

Mike, I couldn't help but notice, nobody listed the -l option. I'm not fully
aware of what your trying to do, but when I log in as non root, I just do
this;
ssh -l username 192.168.x.x (or the hostname, whatever)
