Hello all.

I am trying to set up a mail server and I'm not having much luck talking to the 'outside' world... I'm hoping that somebody with a similar situation can help me out with a sendmail.mc configuration file (or some advice) that will work for me...

Here's what my network looks like...

I have a redhat 8.0 computer (with sendmail-8.12.5-7) connected to a router (firewall/gateway) connected to a GCI cable modem. My server has a local IP (192.168.200.5), and my router has a registered domain name/IP address, and is forwarding ports 22, 25, and 80 to my server.

All of this appears to work correctly (I can log in remotely w/ ssh, my web server works fine, and my mail server is talking to the outside world, but it keeps rejecting mail. From the log file I see that sendmail is rejecting it for the following reason:

Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed [192.168.200.1]

This IP address just happens to be the LAN address for my router, which, obviously, would fail on a DNS lookup...

I have tried going through several examples from the HOWTO's, etc., but I still get the same basic messages.

Any sendmail folks out there want to take a stab at this one ?..

Thanx.

Blair
