Thanks to everyone for the feedback on how to get my rpm to install.

I finally logged in as root, copied the .rpm to root home directory then
installed from the command line. I don't know if I was just specifying
the path to the rpm incorrectly or what but I consistently received
errors concerning an invalid path or file name.

Is this the best way (command line) to install rpm's?
I like the gui they give you when you choose to install new applications
(Add and Remove Programs). Is there a way to dictate what directories
get searched?
