I am with Greg on this one. Actually, I usually make a lil boot partition 25-40
Meg, a swap partition, and then lump the rest together as /. Used to be that
you did not want users to fill up the system disk, hence the large # of
partitions seen on many big unix boxen.

I can personally attest to the fact that nothing dire happens to a linux box if
you fill up the system disk. Of course, logs do not get updated, etc, but
nothing that wipes out your system or anything.

The big "/" partition approach gives the most flexibility. That 6 Gb can
disappear quickly these days with monster apps. When it is filled, you get to
make the tradeoff: more apps or more user/data files. with a highly partitioned
hard disk you do not have this option so easily. Thats where Partition Magik
comes in handy...
