Unless you have another atapi device (cdrom) installed you need to
mount the cdrecorder to read a cdrom. Check the sym-links in /dev/ for
cdrom & cdrecorder, i.e. 'ls -l /dev/cdrom'. I know Suse 8.0 uses
ide-scsi for the cdrecorder, the sym-link will be to /dev/sr0 or
/dev/sg0.
