Well, it was probably a too-quick reply. If you don't use Joliet
extensions, a Windows box will not be able to read long file names, and
will see the 8.3 iso9660 names instead. However it should still read
the CD. One other thing to look at is whether or not the multi-session
settings are being applied in the right order. I haven't used Gnome
Toaster, but the process should be basically the same regardless of the
software.

Your first burn should be multi-session compatible (with cdrecord use
the -multi flag), as should any additional burns up to the last one.
That puts a link at the end of the table of contents pointing to the
beginning of where the next table of contents entry will be if/when you
burn another session to the CD. If you burn a session without that
link, then put another session onto the disk, the two TOC entries won't
be linked. The LAST session burnt to a CD doesn't need the multi
setting, as it's TOC doesn't have to have a link. This is kind of
counter-intuitive, as people like to think of the first session as
normal, and then additional sessions as "multi".

I guess Linux might be smart enough to handle missing TOC links, where
NT isn't, but I doubt it. I think following the links is a firmware
property (again, some older CD readers just don't know what to do with a
multi-session CD). Since your multi-session CDs work in Linux, I would
guess that you're doing the multi-session settings correctly and it's a
problem with the CD reader in the NT box. However someone searching the
archives might be having the above problem where a multi-session CD is
having TOC problems.

Cheers,

James
