The ftp program has the ability to convert carriage returns between the
different UNIX and windowsend-of-line formatting conventions. What you may
be experiencing is that when you download the file to a windows box the file
automatically uses the dos end-of-line formatting. When this file is
coppied to the Linux box there is no conversion of this formatting and thus
the execution fails. This is prbably a multi line script. Check it out
with a cat command (or type in the dos world).
