I don't think storage would be an issue if Aklug made a committment to
support a mirror. Bandwidth costs more $$, afaik, someone to keep it
current. These are not insurmountable issues but ones that need to be
discussed by membership, commitments made.
I would chip in enough to cover some Debian disk space, i.e. i386 for
woody is ~ 4.5 gb.
