Do the "expert" or "custom" install instead of "standard" or
"recommended" (I forget what terminology Mandrake uses..), it should ask
you what partitions you want to put it on, and you can make, resize, etc
partitions.
And from what I hear, the 8.2 Beta is very stable (as far as betas go)
if you are particularly worried, stick with 8.1..
