Xcdroast will work only with those drives it sees with a cdrecord --scanbus,
either scsi or ide-scsi emulated.

As a matter of fact, using ide-scsi emulation on all CDRW and CDrom drives is
something we experimented with and the results were excellent. The breakdown
comes when using DVD drives--the ide-scsi module doesn't treat them as DVDs,
so ide-cd was left as default and ide-scsi is loaded only for CD-R or CDRWs
in the default setup of Mandrake.

That should also be a caution against buying, for any linux, a combination
drive that puts CDRW with DVD, at least until someone rewrites the ide-scsi
module.
