Subject: Installing RH Linux on HP xh555 Laptop

I installed RH 7.2 linux on my laptop this weekend. Install did
fine, but, I cannot get x to run.
I got x86config files from linux-laptops for
same hardware as mine, and of coarse for whatever reason it refuses
to start.
The RH install works fine in graphic mode. So it obviously will work
and x displays in test mode durring the install.
I don't what is happening between then, the end of the install
and when I type startx.
When I startx it displays two white lines, one near the top, the other
near the bottom. I cancel x at this point, I don't know what it is doing
and I do not want to damage the monitor.
I have tried all the
different frequencies suggested but nothing works, oouch!
Any suggestions, help, would be appreciated.

PS. Justin Dieters has the same laptop. He was nice enough to send
me his XF86Config file. Tried this but I get an error about something
missing in the Files Section.
I think he is using Mandrake, did not think this would make a difference
but maybe it does.
