Rick, What you mean by saving a web page? Why don't you just copy it?
Since I know you are familiar with PHP you could use a cron tab to execute a
PHP script which could write or copy a webpage to any directory. Password
protection would not prevent PHP from accessing that page. I do it all the
time.
