[aklug] Re: Long Distance WIFI

You can go ridiculous distances with the right antenna, and the device you
mentioned appears to be purpose built for distance, but don't forget the AP
side would need a correspondingly well suited antenna. A wifi cam sending a
simple video stream will work fine on the lower end of a 802.11b signal, so
it isn't a matter of bandwidth you will need on those modern multi-band
adapters. The next step would be to see the lowest acceptable bitrate, and
the lowest wifi speed acceptable, i.e. don't run it at 300mbit so that it
has to drop down as conditions change, but set it static only as high as
you require. I think it is a GREAT idea, if I had a range I would TOTALLY
do this, I can't see squat on a spotting scope sometimes. What would be
awesome would be the ability to freeze the frame before a shot so you can
see where the next one goes, for those of us that shoot in 12" clover leaf
:-D
