I live in Palmer, which is 50 miles from Anchorage, so after 16
years as a member, I've never made a meeting.
Since you say you have XP, then I assume you have a netbook with
limited resources - thus:
I have several older netbooks here on which I have installed
lubuntu (14.04, I think), rather than xubuntu. I think lubuntu is a
little leaner than xubuntu. I've upgraded all of them to 2 GB RAM.
I use fluxbox as a window manager on all of the netbooks. (I even
use fluxbox on my Mac Mini with ubuntu 14.04 with 8 gb of RAM.)
Lately, I've been experimenting with jwm (Joe's window manager).
It is the default wm for Damned Small Linux and Puppy Linux. It's
very configurable, and I may just end up with it as my default on
my Mac.
It may prove even leaner than fluxbox for a netbook.
